WELCOME TO (SIERRA EDEN) SECONDARY
The British International School and Montessori Education Secondary section accept students till age 18. The subjects covered in our Lower Secondary program include; English, Mathematics, English physics, chemistry, biology, literature, history, geography, design and technology, PSHE and citizenship, Music, Arts, French, and Cambridge Global Perspective.
English, Mathematics, and Triple science Awards are compulsory subjects in our upper secondary program. While students are offered a choice of other subjects in humanities and one foreign language.
OUR AIM
Our aim is to ensure that the learning we provide is tailored to the needs of our students so that they are supported through out their learning journey thereby developing skills and values that would enable them to succeed in an ever-hanging world
We take pride in the way we deliver our program. We ensure the success of our students by tailoring our lessons by focusing on their specific needs and their strengths in order to encourage and support them.
The Secondary School curriculum is based on the Cambridge Secondary 1 curriculum and IGCSE in Secondary 2.
Learning in our secondary school does not end only in the classroom but is extended beyond the classroom. Our students are encouraged to engage in critical thinking, active learning, team work, communication skills through participation in the school council, field trips and international excursions.
Our team of specialist teachers are also on the ground to provide extra support by ensuring that the students are following their schedules.
In addition to improving the academic skills of our students, they are also encouraged to cultivate a thirst for knowledge and love for learning. Students are guided by our dedicated staff through their learning journey at BIS while also placing importance on the emotional well-being of the students.
Students are further supported in their studies using online learning platforms such as, IXL, Literacy Planet and Gooseberry planet which provides an avenue for online safety while homework can be accessed from the Show My Home Work online platform.
Our program also includes Physical Education and Music and Movement. Our aim is provide the students with a balanced curriculum that leads to development of skills and understanding to help them prepare for lifelong participation in sport and physical activity whilst cultivating a positive learning state and as well as inspiration and motivation.
